Noticing and savoring literary devices
This month on IG we are looking over Biblical study terms like:
These are all ways that the authors of the Bible included truths and clothes them with even more beauty.
One point to focus on is that repetition is used a lot in the Bible. Ever read a passage and think...I. Just. Read. That.
There is a reason!
And often, if you get handy with a highlighter, you can see, literally see, a pattern unfolding in the passages. This is called bookending or reflectional symmetry. It a visually pleasing and emotionally affective way to emphasis a point.
Remember how we would map out rhyme in poems in highschool?
If you take a work, thought, or phrase and highlight it one color, or designate it a letter, sometimes you can find a pattern like we would in school.
